Oh well, time to mortgage the house, it's nearly time for the clutch assembly change!!

Had a price, just got to do a bit of saving up first. It's starting to slip, good and proper, not all the time, but if I'm a bit heavy on the "go fast" pedal, it shows me it don't like it

But I shall be getting the lot done, DMF, clutch assembly, slave and master cylinders, so I can maybe get another 90 odd thousand miles from it before it goes again........................ :violent:

Hi Cremator, the quote was 350 for fitting, the parts quote was higher than I expected but he's happy for me to buy the parts as long as they're decent. His parts quote was 580 without the DMF

i bit the bullet couple of years ago cost me well over 1K to have it done:mad:
see attached invoice

Clutch approx £130
Slave...£80
Master...£100- £130
DMf £350ish
Wouldn't bother with the master as if it does go you can do it your self in less than 30 mins

my invoice reads the following

flywheel asst td4.............. £698.12
clutch slave cylinder assy.... £55.16
clutch kit td4.................... £158.38
clutch master cylinder assy td4....£120.20
Labour ....... £237.00
there were little odds and sods like oil and o rings on there too but this will give you a rough idea how much the above items will cost and labour involved

Skoda, your labour charge was quite reasonable too.

MJR, good advice about the master cylinder, definitely something I could do. And your prices are about right as well, I shall look online, buy the parts as I can afford them, then get them fitted. The missus keeps saying, "Why don't you do it yourself, you love fiddling with that car!" To which I replied, "Because, my dear,
1.) we have no garage, if it rains while I've got half the transmission spread over the drive alongside my tools, it's a mad dash.
2.) If I don't get it right, it'll be a strip down again...... no thanks!!
3.) If the car isn't right when it's done by the mechanic, his workshop is next to ours, I've got instant comeback!" But I don't think I've got much worry, he's decent, and he bought my 17 year old Rav4 from me for his missus, she's chuffed to bits with it..........which is nice :)

Go for LUK slave cylinder and I prefer Valeo clutches .....if you get them from eurocarparts and use the code clutch15 at the check out you will get 15% off

Hi MJR,

thanks for that, I was wondering which would be the better makes. I was looking at the complete LUK kit, with DMF as well. It seemed fairly reasonably priced. Also, is it definitely worthwhile changing the DMF, or is it a 'peace of mind' thing? I've only ever heard of clutch plates and covers needing to be changed, not the whole assembly.

if doing clutch do the dmf with out a doubt if u dont you will regret it

That was my train of thought too cremator, I've read a fair bit on these DMFs, and also on the solid flywheel replacement. I'm of the opinion that the DMF was fitted to mine for a reason, and will be replaced like for like.

Bit my clutch bullet today! Bloody thrust bearing exploded:( whole job £118. Joys of k series ownership:) took about six hours on axle stands at a leisurely pace;)

Took this one!:D
Suspect various special tools meant I didn't struggle and made it a lot faster. Plus a helping hand from WLJayne to lift it back in;)
I just treated it like a front wheel drive car. Left the ird in place and pulled the box off the end! I was surprised how easy it was to be honest:) but don't forget I've done lancia delta integrale clutches before which are a bitch so I have had practice.
