hi all
This is my first post on here since getting my first freelander, so plz be gentle with me.
Last few days when trying to reverse of driveway front nearside break has been sticking, rocking lossens it but at lights this morning noticed a bit of smoke from said wheel.
Can anyone tell me what the likeliest suspects would be and any advisement on fix.
thanks mark

Your brake might be binding but this time of year are you sure the smoke is not from your fuel burning heater........ If you have one...... The exhaust comes out down there

hi chris
I dont think it is that as i got out and touched my wheel and it was very hot, touched the disc and it actually burnt me

Ahhhhhh

One of my front brakes was binding when I got mine. I removed the caliper gave it a really good clean and all has been well since. It was a build up of rust and crap on one of the pad guides I think. The pad was so tight that it wasn't releasing

I had a similar problem with my front brakes sticking on. Turned out to be sticking caliper pistons.
Bought a couple of new pistons and seal kits from Island 4x4 and it cured the problem-been fine since.

Can also be the slide pins sticking.

If copper grease or other types of grease apart from the correct special grease are used it causes the rubber sleeve to expand and then they stop the caliper sliding freely.
