Just to let you all know that we are now reconditioning the freelander 2 diffs. The units are fully reconditioned with new bearings and seals throughout (not like some the cheap ones on offer that only replace the pinion bearing) and are supplied with the correct diff and haldex fluids. The first units should be available within the next couple of weeks.

I know we are a bit late to the party but the Freelander 1's keep us so busy its only by expanding that we can increase the work volume to incorporate the 2's and keep the same level of service to our valued customers.
 
So people will bolt their existing Haldex onto your recon diff?

You don't do anything with the Haldex units?

I believe a lot of the problems with the FL2 diffs was related to paint used on the inside of the unit (sounds strange, but that's how I take it) - do you do anything to the diffs that may stop those related problems occurring?

No modification to haldex unit, im not an electronics man so not looked into doing the reflash option on the later gen4 haldex units, but im lead to believe this isnt an option on the earlier gen3's anyway so up until the layer 09 cars there isn't a choice. From what we have seen its down poor quality bearings being used and a tendancy for them to be squeezed tight due to the nut tightening. I think the haldex reflash was more of a precaution by landrover as they didnt know the root cause, similiar to them upping the rear diff bearing sizes and changing the ird ratios in the FL1, when infact it was all down to tyre sizings and vcu degradation. If the haldec was causing tranmission wind up we would be seeing pinion wear/failure, not brearings collapsing

Units are completely stripped and cleaned before rebuilding with quality components. There is absolutely no evidence of paint causing a paste in the diff as apart from the bearings the internals look pristine

You read a lot of weird and wild stories on the internet
