Alliteration aside, i managed to pick up a really cheap (£10) but massively worn out "bull bar" today when i went to pick up some cheap (£150 for 5) 16" alloys.
This bull bar is rather rusty under it's wierd plasticised coating, and missing a bolt/spacer and the two lower brackets.
My questions are;
1: how do i go about stripping this horrendous coating so i can see the extent of the rust and hopefully weld/fix it... And...
2: where can i get spare fittings from, or would it be simpler to DIY my own.

Oh yeah, and i ordered a 2 inch lift kit, but it only came with the spacers, do i need camber pins? There's faaaaar to many arguements for and against for my liking :cool2:

i would not put a lift kit on unless you like changing cv joints as there are at a angle and do not like being that way. you bull bar I gather it is plastic coated the usuall way is to burn it of and you can get them recoated

I've put a 2" lift on mine, my cv's were fine got three months then got a knock from the NSR outer one! Pulled back the boot and regreased it, it's been fine since!
Ref camber pins, I didn't fit them originally, I daren't go over 50 in the wet, it was scary! Camber pins fixed it:D

some have probs with lift kits some don't.....some use camber pins and some don't.
some have to cut the body to allow clearance, some don't

try it and see would be my advice

Some can't drive well enough to realise how bad they are! If you do a two inch lift "adjusting" the inner wings isn't an option! One inch I think you'd be ok

cheers for the replies, i'm gonna get the VMs back at camp to have a look at fitting the kit for me... if it needs the pins, i'll buy the pins... if it needs the wing cutting i'll cut it... if it doesn't work, i'll go for the 1" lift :eek:
fitted my new 16"ers last night on 225/75R16 bridgestone dueler ATs, had to use a 6mm spacer as they're the older alloys... seems to have made road driving alot smoother and sorted out the difference with my satnav vs speedo. just need to see what they're like off the road now :cool2:
i'm hopefully gonna get the metalsmith at work to show me how to patch up the bull bars, so will try the heatgun idea on the plastic sometime early next week and keep you all informed on how it goes :D
