Glencoyne have issued the following safety alert re' Bearmach Swivel Balls

These photos are of a chrome swivel ball on a Series III which failed during a greenlaning trip last week. The swivel ball had been fitted in July 2021, and the vehicle's owner is not aware of having hit any solid objects or deep potholes.
I'm no metallurgist but it looks to me as though there are quite a few imperfections in the casting, little brown grains of something. I have no idea whether this is a one-off or whether there are other defective castings out there.
The swivel ball in question has "Bearmach" and "01/21" (presumably the manufacturing date) on the edge of the flange. As Bearmach no longer exists, there isn't much that I can do other than post this information and ask people to share it. Hopefully there will not be too many of these swivel balls out there: if you have a couple on the shelf and haven't yet got round to fitting them, my advice would be to use them as paperweights.<<
