Battery problem

I keep getting a fine yellow crystal growth on the top of my battery! It doesn't seem to be leaking but I suspect one of the cells is weeping slightly and the acid is then drying on top of the battery! The battery is showing green and indicates 12.4v when I checked it this morning!

Should I just replace it or is there some other issue to contend with?

at 12.4v I'd say replace it.

I must admit that 12.4 seemed a bit low to me!

A quick trip to the local shop this morning then!

when you get your new one put some grease on the terminals that will stop it but only a smearing

Teddywood1, the crystals are all over the top of the battery not just the terminals!

I have had a closer look at the battery and although it is meant to be a maintenance free battery, one of the tops to the cells is not on right and there is a hairline crack around the moulding! This is actually a manufacturing fault and may have become worse as the battery has got older!
