Hello

I'm changing my battery myself on Tuesday, can anybody give me any advice, if at all.....i.e if I need to do anything before I remove the battery leads and likewise..before I put them on and after i put them on (because of all the electrics..etc)

Thanks in advance for any info

Yes
Use a jumper pack to keep all the electrics alive whilst removing and replacing the battery.
remove earth lead first.
fit earth lead last.
Use coppaslip over the terminals.

I changed mine the other week on an 1999 DSE with no problems without using a jumper.

I read somewhere to disable the alarm by turning the ignition switch on, then off, then disconnect the negative terminal within 15 seconds.

Whether the ignition on/off actually did anything, I couldn't tell you, but everything fired up just fine after swapping the battery out, both keys still worked, etc.

Wait for two minutes after removing ignition key before disconnecting earth lead (to avoid sat nav & fuel gauge faults). Raise bonnet to service position by disconnecting struts. Battery is much easier to remove if you take out the air intake/pollen filter housing (2 nuts) first. After reconnecting battery start engine and turn steering wheel fully from lock to lock to recalibrate steering angle sensor otherwise various warning lights will stay on.

EKA code. You might get engine disabled message on your dash when you get power back, it will then say enter EKA code.

You should be able to get your EKA code from a main dealer for free and there is a sequence of key turns in the door to reactivate the engine had this on mine several times.

Not started it for nearly 10 weeks so i will no doubt have to do the above:(
