Barrel connectors

Can anyone explain ? I get the yellow hill descent light, I get the flashing F4, I lose half the gearbox, I stop the car, switch off and everything returns to normal ..........for about a mile then same **** as before. I lift the bonnet feel for the barrel connectors, unwind them, pull them apart, wait 30secs and reconnect them and the problem completely disappears for about 3k miles then I do it all again ??? What voodoo is going on in the mystic barrel connectors ???

You may have a poor connection across the barrel connectors or a damaged/broken wire. Inspect the full harness to the gearbox to see if it's damaged. See this part of the video:

Electric cleaner and cable ties to make a tight connection are your friends

I have some circuit cleaner solvent spray that I was going to try, but because of the shape and design of the barrel connectors I couldn't really see how it could be a bad connection, but maybe it is !

The metal tarnishes over time. Try to clean the cleaner out afterwards if it's the type that leaves a residue.
