Ball joints replacement

Hey people i have a 2.0tdi freelander y reg . and need to replace the nearside ball joint,Have taken the wheel of and found that the joint has some sort of presure fixings holding on the ball joint. I have three nuts and bolts with the new one so can i just cut these wierd looking fixings of with a grinder easy enough ......thankyou muchly Martin :confused:

you have to drill out the pressed studs to do it.

I did them on my dads freeby last week but it wasn't much more expensive to get the whole wishbone and ball joint as one unit - it was about £50-60 I think and made like better as to drill them out you would likely need to remove the wishbone anyway.

In the past on VWs I have drilled them out but the landrover press studs seem unnecessarily strong!

If you have a eurocarparts in your area they do them.
