Just got my rims back from paint shop and some new rubber put on. The old weights on the inside of the rims disappeared I noticed. Anyway the tire shop next door did not do any balancing, then when confronted the worker guy acted confused, and wants me to come back another time with my land rover. (That's not going to happen) I think the worker is just being lazy.

Does the steel rim need to be balanced first, then the tire put on and balanced again with another balance weight put on? That is what is in my mind. Thats what appeared to be on before. I could not believed it when I looked and saw no weights anywhere.

Would you guys drive around with 4 out of balance tires? Maybe the shimmy will balance out all the other shimmies. hah

Maybe its not that big of a deal. I'm trying to decide.

ok guess I will throw them in the pickup tomorrow, and get them balanced with the tyres on at some other shop.

I was curious if the rims are balanced separately, because my rims had weights on the inner and outer side of the rim. The weight on the inside looked like they were glued on.
Thanks

X1 done together. Although, my new Avon Roadrunners on the rear axle aren't balanced. Tyre depot said for the speed it does it's not critical. I haven't had any issues driving. Saying that I'd always have balanced tyres on the front.

My Avon Rangemasters have about 20 weights on each. I thought the girl that fitted them was going to weld a lump hammer on for good luck.

I was just going to mention that. hah
Went to a different shop to get the wheels balanced. Glad I did as some of my rims now have some huge weights on them. The big weight in the 2nd picture I can wiggle around, speaking of welding, I am thinking about trying to glue those big ones down with 2 part epoxy. I could see that flying off, its almost too large for the angle of the rim, I wish he would have put 3 smaller ones on like the 1st picture. oh well
Thanks for all the advice.

Wheel and tyre are balance together it would be very unusual if static and dynamic was correct as fitted.
It happened to me once on a modeo. They had to check it half a dozen times and thought the machine had broken down. The old chap who owned the garage had never had one go on perfect.

There is a reason the use 3 little ones or one big one......

I pulled off a big clip weight with just my fingers and not much effort. Looks like the tab on the clip was sticking out a ways too. Can I just get a heavy slug hammer and pound it in flush then? sigh
