Back in the p38 club,,, a few issues,

Hi Guys, it's been a few years but I got offered another p38 and decided to buy it!
it's a 4.6 hse, the body is very tidy, interior is ok too,
the steering wonders a bit and SRS light is on (any ideas?)
On the plus side,,, its very tidy, the sunroof works! its got only 122k on it! and the suspension does not go down (although driving hight seems a bit higher than I would expect)
anyone got any ideas on any of these issues,,, its good to be back!!

Time to get the tools out then. Oil leak will be from front possibly oil cooler. Oil does not tend to get blown forwards in my experience. Diag needed for Hevac. Check white plugs behind trim L/H side bottom of passenger A post first of all for contamination ref door not locking. Reset suspension to standard settings with diag. SRS lamp diag or one of the two bulbs blown in dash display. Loud click have a look. Well that was easy next question.

is hevac the heating? I dont have suspension diag what would I need for this? what diag is needed for srs? and why would a blown bulb cause srs light to come on?
cant see anything that would be making the click, its not like a cv sound it's louder and odd!
I've forgotten most of the stuff I did on my last one as I have a terrible memory! all I know is it was complicated but possible!

Find someone near you with a Nanocom that will sort all the diag. SRS has two warning bulbs. One it uses and one for standby. If one fails the other one comes on and stays on. Hevac is heating and climate control.

Well instrument binnacle out for SRS bulbs, not a vast job. Hevac can get a bit more traumatic.

I have a complete air suspension if you need any parts.

With the hevac book symbol, mine was doing that, it would come up just after turning ignition on, I found if i immediatley pushed the air con button turning the air con off the book symbol wouldnt appear, i traced it to worn cluch plates on the air con compressor, system was wanting air con, it wasnt getting any so threw the book symbol up. worth a try on yours to narrow the possible cause down

my book has gone off now! but heated seat only works on drivers side and some of the other buttons dont seem to do anything
but heater works great!!
I am more worried about the srs and airbag fault always coming up on dash, its not really a worry but annoying, i've heard that there are some connectors under the seat that can do this, does anyone have a pic of these so I can wiggle them before taking the dash apart!!

If it's a '99 onwards with side airbags in the front seats then you will have a yellow connector under the seat. They can come loose especially if moving the seat fully back when playing under the console. Give the connector a wiggle (with ignition off) - worked for me.

I did look but it's a 98 so no wires!
