Baby Seat Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for a baby seat (suitable for a 9m+) for a MY2000 P38?

I'm aware it doesn't have ISOFIX so obviously it will be a seatbelt type, I'm just wondering if there are any other P38 owning parents on here who might be able to suggest anything that works particularly well - or doesn't - all information is useful!

We have a Maxi Cosi base and bucket seat, and the seat is removable (of course!) and fits onto the push chair.

Base fits nicely with the seat belt, well made. Bit heavy.

Seat lining comes of for washing.

Only limiting factor on choice is the type of fitting to let you plonk the bucket onto the push chair, but at 9 months you will probably leave the base in the car and lift baby directly into the push chair .....

best go to mothercare, or someone like that, who will advise you and test fit some.

I probably should have given a bit better explanation of my needs.

At current I don't have a P38, it's what I'm aiming to replace my existing CLK with. My other car -the family one - is a E46 330 Touring which does the job nicely and for which we already have an ISOFIX baby seat.

All that said, it would be useful to have an additional baby seat in the Range Rover so that I can pick the youngling up from nursery without faffing about trying to swap seats over.

We have a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix travel system (twinned with the Quinny pushchair) which has worked a treat. However he's now too big for the car seat so we just use the Quinny with its normal seat as a pushchair.

Ideally I'd like to have the seat before I get the Range Rover as seeing as it's just a seatbelt type it will also fit in the Merc.

What do other people have in their P38s?

Polite note - Range Rovers are notoriously unreliable....

Ensure you have RAC/AA/Green Flag cover with the get you home function to ensure you and/or your parter with sprog can get home should the highly inevitable happen....

Have heard many a story of:

'We got a Range Rover to have the element of safety for our new born/baby/toddler.....'

Only for it to be stuck somewhere with a failure......

Yes they are awesome vehicles, safe and great to drive....but please for Gods (and your boys) sake ensure you have a backup plan.....

Thanks again. The Range Rover will be very much a second vehicle, so hopefully its unreliability will not affect offspring too much.

We bought a Recaro Young Expert - Fantastic seat that can be broken down as they get older - all the way down to a booster seat. Comes with a 3 point harness and can be belted in - have a look on google - great seat, great price when you consider how many you have to buy in the long run (circa £180)

Best to go and try some at mothercare, I had trouble with a couple not fitting well in my dad's p38.

In my classic I have an isofix base secured via the seatbelt for the baby seat and a maxi cosi seat for my 2 year old which is good, but one if the new models which swivels sideways for loading\unloading is a good idea for the mrs as it can be a little awkward as they grow

[sarcasm]I'm sure the Land Rover company can provide some expensive models, but they probably break up every month and are then serviced for a month, so you basically need two of them (like the RR...) [/sarcasm]

I've never heard of fitting ISOFIX mounts? Is this actually possible? Wouldn't it mean welding them onto the chassis somewhere? I've not seen any for sale, so do you mean getting some made up?

Welded or bolted in place I imagine.


#2 is just a guide to make it easier to latch onto the actual item (#3).

I'm not sure it'll be an easy retro fit item with the P38 rear seats being as they are.
