axles

hi help needed i want to change to rear discs as have drums on rear+ rear diff is shot to bits, i have a rear axle off a disco can this go on or are ratios different meaning id need front aswell. i dont have 2 have discs but as diff has had it i thought it would be a cheaper option instead of reconing the diff

Assuming it's a 90 you're talking about a disco axle wil go straight on. Won't fit a 110 though.

It is a very simple swap, I'm putting a set of 300tdi disco axles onto my 1989 90 atm.

If you are doing the back axle only, the only differences are that the trailing arms are different on the 300 series (wider axle bracket) but this can be solved by buying new ones. I have a set I don't need if it's any help Also the 300 discos have a rubber doughnut on the diff output flange before it meets the propshaft, take this off along with the output flange and fit a 4 bolt standard flange.

Once you have done that or if the axle is a 200tdi type then simply pull your old axle off and bolt the new one on. This job should take less than a day if everything goes to plan.

its the front axle on pre 94 defenders that have narrower arms ,after rationalisation they were same size
