hi all
i havent done a search on this topic 'cos i wouldnt know what to put in but the issue is this....
my 300tdi auto wont start not a flicker so i'm thinking it might be the switch that stops it working if your not in N or P so my question is where do i find this switch/solenoid/whatever i've tried slamming it into park with ignition on but it doesn't even blink. i had to hit the hand brake drum to release the handbrake as it had been pulled on so tight (not by me) would this have done something

cheers

i had this issue and the garage replaced one of the leads that runs into the steering colum seemed to fix it

second time it wouldnt start turned out starter motor was stuck lol

cleaned and checked all connections solonoid now clicks when it should there is a live feed to the other connection too but nothing else happens does this mean starter motor is foobar
cheers

ALL? i thought they was just the one on the starter motor. i cleaned this and its fine i also checked the battery one and thats ok. going to do a bench test in the morning i also still have my old one that worked it just cranked slower but still started the engine i might bob that on and see what happens

it is the starter did the earth thing and nothing. bench tested nothing. put my old one back on and it cranked (wouldn't start 'cos that one i would be quicker doing by hand hence replacing it in november) cheers for the advice in helping me sort this
