Drive both and see which you prefer. If you prefer an auto get an auto, better off driving something you enjoy driving rather than something you find more like a chore ;)

Looking at the FL2's on LR's second hand vehicle list:

409 manual
569 auto

split is normally 40/60 regardless of number of vehicles for sale.

I have a FL1 auto. First auto I had and not by choice. I would have an auto if I went for a FL2.

I've also got a fl1 auto and is also the first auto I've ever owned

I have to use an auto due to a disability but even if I had the choice would always have an auto

like the others have said, try both and see what u prefer

do u do a lot of driving in traffic etc, will u tow, any off road use etc

I have a auto my previous one was an auto due to my disability but I can drive a manual as the wife's is but my left leg gets very tired quickly especially in traffic so an auto every time, my brother in law has an auto he has to because he passed his test in an auto many years ago I do not know if the law has changed or not since then.

funny enough my disability also effects my left leg , due to a massive back injury i had, then a bodged surgery done in the usa which caused huge nerve damage

hope ur not suffering too much in this cold weather mate

mine is due to breaking neck and back and then having dye pumped into my spine coursing adhesive arachnoiditis look it up on the net, the nerves are getting destroyed.

I'm on my 7th auto including my Leaf and Freelander 1. I personally would not go back to a manual.

Autos are generally less fuel efficient unless it is a dry clutch DSG or possibly the 8 or was it 9 speed BMW 5 series.

i've had both FL2 auto and manual for a few days each ..
( new courtesy cars while mine was in for work )

from a driving only p.o.v. .. the auto won me over

having said that ..
the last auto i drove was a 1980 renault ..
'n before that .. a couple of american late 60's ex-cop cars ..
suffice to say .. auto shift has been upgraded by leaps 'n bounds since then :)))

Well it seems from my finding are the auto is fractionally quicker to 60

However, according to Parkers, fuel consumption is 7mpg worse with the Auto and the auto is £60/year more to tax

don't know if it's true but autos are supposed to be better in snow, off road and for towing

whether it's true or not , ??????

Auto's are betterer oft road as yer don't need to keep slipping the clutch to control power at moments when you might stall when going slow over something.
