Just coming of the ferry today started engine ( TD5 2001 Auto ) and the manual & sports mode lights were flashing and the lights on the gearstick were flashing.
Quickly shut off engine and checked under for a big puddle , but nothing. Restarted engine and decided to disembark ferry much to relief of p###ed passengers behind me  . Drove off and stopped and started whilst trying to avoid eye contact with drivers so lifted the bonnet for effect, and waited for 5 mins then restarted with no lights on.
Drove to destination 250 miles no probs at all.
Anyone had this problem before or am I getting a large bill in the post?
I think / hope it was just an effect of the ferry motion rocking back and forth on the Park pin and not anything else.

Cheers

Most common cause is a failing,(or full of water.) WXYZ switch on the side of the autobox.Other causes are looms chafing on top of the transfer box or loss of Can traffic twixt eng ecu and auto ecu - this is usually the engine loom chafing around the A/C compressor/front engine lifting eye.A quick session on Testbook will usually give the answer, the fault codes from both ecu's are quite accurate.

had this happen once on mine, just switched off for 2 mins then restarted, lights out,was told its with changing between forward and reverse to quickly,engine/gearbox trying to change direction before its stopped, i know this is different to your ferry situation, but not seen them since

Thanks guys,

Hoping it was only a glitch, as I have had no problem since I have had it stopping and starting several times on journey and I changed the Auto box oil around a month ago, but if it persists I will have to go down the Testbook route as Eightinavee has rightly pointed out.
