Hi all
Trying to get to grips with my td5 having many problems now my gearbox selector on auto box does not lock into position the button on front of stick seems not to work or locate gear shifter it just moves back and forth is this going to be a problem or will it cost me much to have repaired. it does not seem to effect driving car but dont want to run the risk of it jumping out of gear.

I don't believe there is any danger of it jumping out of gear on it's own, but there is a risk that you will accidently move the lever, as the lock is no longer working.

Driven carefully it shouldn't be a problem, but to be honest the parts to fix it are likely to be so cheap you maybe ought to get it done.

Do you have a workshop manual for the car,? If not you can download one from the Green Oval website - Google it for the address.

Good luck

Dave
