Auto box issues...

My auto box has started to concern me a bit. As far as I know it's the original one off the car, which means it would have covered 152k. It still shifts perfectly and really smoothly, no binding or vibration or anything, but it's getting quite loud. Almost sounds like the same noise as when my UJs had gone on the front prop, kind of like a whirring. It's not mega loud but concerning. One of my customers had a drive earlier and he reckons the box is on it's way out. Is there anything I can do, or is it new box time? I know sweet FA bout auto boxes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the oil level, this should be your first concern.

Check and/or change/flush the ATF. Easy things first

Well apparently it sounds like ithe transfre box is dry. I just assumed these ran off the gearbox oil . So I'm gonna check that tonight when I get home. Is it just a case of undoing the plug by the handbrake drum and filling up to the level?
