So I drained the transfer box today and it looks like the garage that changed all the oils for me just over 12 months ago have put ATF in there rather than EP90. :emps1:
It came out as thin as you'd expect and was a very dark brown/rusty red in colour.

Obviously this is a lot thinner and completely the wrong oil, so is there likely to be any long term damage or might I have got away with it?
It's done just over 5k miles since it had that last oil change.

I'm thinking change the oil again in 100 miles or so so it's all completely flushed out etc.

i wouldnt bother flushing it atf is very detergent it already has cleaned the box, it will be okay ,both bearings and gears run fine with atf

I only asked them to do it because it was up on their ramps having a load of welding work done and saved me arsing about on the drive at home.

One thing I did notice was that the build up of iron filings on the magnetic sump plug was minimal and no more than you'd expect. :)
