AT Tyres

Am thinking of changing my tyres to AT ones.

Can I do this safely a pair at a time, obviously the first set on the rear, followed by the second set on the rear when the time comes?

I've got 16" wheels

Personally, Id change all four at the same time. There may be grip issues in the wet, handling and the difference in rolling radius. From the posts/threads on here about VCU/IRD etc they seem pretty touchy and dont like having there shoes on the wrong feet!!!

Running in 2wd and would love to but funds are tight!

I'd be interested to know what tyres you are going to put on. Only coz my budget was tight and I got 5 falken all terrains for just over £250. If going from road tyres to all terrains I would deffo change all 4 due to tread depth difference etc.

if running in 2wd then put the new AT on front then when funds allow put two on rear and then a vcu that way the newer tyres are on the rear when you fit the new vcu.

Looking at General Grabber AT2 for pose value and hopefully some snow later in the year!

Falken Land air are good AT tyres at a reasonable price. Got them on our FL.

Don't get General Grabber AT2s, get the newer General Grabber ATs. (Yes, the ATs are newer than AT2s) They're quieter and just as good off road.

Thanks will have a look - does it matter if my profile is a 65 whereas these are a 70?

If you're in 2 wheel mode, a pair of 70's on front won't do any harm. Just DON'T go back to 4 wheel mode with 70's on front and 65's still on back else you'll get windup and feck your VCU/IRD.

I had 195/75/15 on and managed to squeeze 215/80/15 on. Think that's the biggest without mods
