Anyone from here heading to ashcombe this weekend?
I'll be there on the Sunday, it's my first scuffle so don't really know what to expect, know the site fairly well though.

Going on Saturday :) went to the winter scuffle in a Suzuki sj and was good, lots of different stuff, and a winching area.

I'm taking my disco this time so gonna do some easy stuff and not break it :) good fun though and a few nice people about, marshals were friendly too

Only problem is, at 30quid per 4x4 it's a bit expensive! 10quid less and it would be more fair..

It does seem a little steep to be honest, but the recovery vehicles etc have to be paid for somehow I suppose.
I drove right round the winching area last year, didn't need to get the winch out once, although did get stuck following a random track through the trees that ended up nowhere.

Haha great :) they have a big tractor to pull out really stuck 4x4s :D I think the money all goes towards a church renovation, so if that's what the village want to spend it on then fair enough, if it was going to some random bloke think I'd say something at 30quid a time.

Yeah had seen that, don't mind paying a bit extra of it's not lining someone else's pocket! To be fair weren't the bearmach days there £25?
Little worried about knobs bashing into mine if I'm honest, I don't mind the damage caused off roading on trees etc, but draw the line at a randomer driving into me!

I dunno about the bearmachs days, I'm gonna keep away from other people and do my own thing I think, I got a mate coming who can help me get unstuck if need be.

Last time I went I found everybody to be quite good and respectable, fair enough trash your own non road legal car and bash a tree if you like, but keep a good distance and from other users :) and the speed down, no need to ram your 4x4 up to 30mph on the straight tracks and around the car parks

Even though the V8s sound bloooooody lush when being rammed

Hey Groomers, if your going tomorrow, look out for me,

was going to go today until my disco decided to loose the will to live after 3 miles, shattering its wheel bearing in to bits, recovered by AA :(

if your there tomorrow come and say hello, ill be with a mate in a Black Suzuki SJ with yellow arches and two idiots inside :D, towed by a blue 04plate Defender 90

That's why I always keep a stock of wheel bearings at home!
I'll be there in the morning, in a 200 disco with many different colours and dents! Look out for one with a farm jack on the bonnet.
Would be good to meet you up there bud, have to grab a cuppa whilst were there

Well today really busy! Loads turned up, I seen a few discos with farm jacks on the bonnet, was a good day though!

Ironic thing is on the way home my mates defender broke down...wheel bearing gone on his at the back... Really strange! Maybe ashcoombes cursed by the god of wheel bearings for us.

Well I can't say my day was much better!
This happened at about 13:00

Most annoying bit was there was no noise or anything to tell me it had gone until I was trying to get up one of the climbs and only had front wheel drive, it also happened at one of the lowest points on the site, but after the shafts were pulled it drove straight up to the carpark with no issues!

Wow, last time we went we managed to snap a leaf spring and twist the axle so it was pointing upwards putting loads of stress on the prop, (all on the Suzuki sj)

Kinda glad I didn't get my disco there as it was a bit hairy especially as I didn't wanna break anything and drive it home 90miles, don't think there was all that much if be prepared to do.
