Are my 33 inch tyres too big?

Think you might find (I am 90% sure..) that it is 3 points PER A TYRE. 4 x 3 = 12 = Driving ban
would tend to agree with you on that one, but when heading south on the m1 saturday afternoon i overtook a roadster type hotrod with all four wheels totally exposed so not sure if its age related as well

Lat time I was at the DVLA office a guy was registering one of those cheap quad bikes.

He was moaning cos it goes down as a PLG £185/year road tax.

The thing is how do they get away with the wheels/tyres half hanging outside of the mudgards?

As far as I am aware... please correct me.... wheels hanging out of the mudgaurds is not part of the MOT test? But it is an offence under the Construction and Use Regs. If a vehicle is used (taxed etc) on a road it does have to conform. If not the they are 'Plod Fodder' and stones and crap being thown up can do damage and also cost 3 points. The offence is not per tyre unless they are defective.

i found my previous 265/75/16 insa special tracks fouled the radius arms.the 35/10.50/16 simex still do it.i just live with it..you could wind the stops out to stop it but as it has the turning circle of an aircraft carrier at the best of times i have left it.it did try some 35/12.50/15 tyres 1st but i would have had to extend the archs and didnt wanna do that so i opted for the 10.50 wide and they sit perfect.

Excellent:) good to know about the 10.50s.

I might just get some new 33/10.50R15 tyres fitted to my wheels and move on the 35 inch Xterrains.

iv got 35/10.50 r16 fedima's n they stick out just a gnats,so av made these.

Phil you probably have your steering stops adjusted so you do not hit full lock. Also your wheels are really offset and stick well outside the spats which is an offence and at minimum 3 points and a warning. if you were ever pulled by VOSA they will either give you three points £60 fine and send you on your way to rectify the problem. Or they may be arsey, not let you go until it is sorted and still get 3 points and the fine. Jai

Ok that's the same sort of deal I have. So I take it you're getting all the diff, wheel bearing, prop, half shaft, etc problems that have been mentioned.

Or are these people just trying to scare me

I agree with MHM, 'cept I need 'em donating to me ... my 31"s are too small ... ;)

Paul, how wide be your 31s? Am looking at some for my disco so checking out your profile pic. Did you remove front bumper for clearance reasons or because it wouldn't fit with the bigger wheels? Was hoping to keep my tdi bumper with a bit of trimming.. Tarr larr :D

31 x 10.5 R15 ...

Front bumper was changed for clearance, not for the tyres, but because I kept ripping the lower valance part off! The trailing edge of the end caps has caught occasionally, but I cba to bother cutting it back. Similarly the rear arches just catch, but again I cba to bother .. though I might soon have to ...

oooh mr mot tester did not do his 'lock to lock' check properly! lol..

Mine only foul the bodywork on full articulation. When stood or normal driving they are well away from any bodywork at whatever steering angle front or rear. The front barely kisses the endcap trailing edges, the rears are a tad worse, but not much, and mostly on the drivers side, the nearside is pretty good!
