They spend about 45minutes on a recon transfer box. Usually it only gets new seals and a wash. Lad who runs a landy garage here won't use em due to short life before they fail again.

So is your opinion then. How can a shop do that type of work as you claim, and be as successful as they are?

Like you slaging flux over your insurance, And the happy, happy campers on here with them:rolleyes:

The box still works but 1st 2nd 3rd and 5th are very noisy comming down the box. 5th gear "screams" at anything over 40/50mph. Going from 3rd to 2nd to 1st you have resistance and a scrapping noise and feed back from the box. There is serious clunking and when in neutral and clutch out it rattles something chronic!

I need to replace the Rear crank oil seal as I'm loosing serious oil now. So I figure if I'm going to replace the seal and clutch lets do the box and sort out the drive train...I've been informed if all the box is there you'll get the sub charge back.

Redhand, Mutznuts and Dr Evil cheers for the other options. Thinking AW in Coventry will be getting a call tomorrow.

Nope not my opinion at all it is the opinion of a very successful garage owner who has fitted quite a few Ashcroft units and had complaints about them. As well as his customers and friends telling him about problems they have had . Including one who got thru 3 Ashcroft gearboxes in 2 years. and then went and bought a recon box of whitehouse Transmissions. and has had it for ages with no problems.

As for Flux there are as many people who have had problems with them as there are who are happy with their service.

For Me it was Them cancelling my insurance because I lived in a caravan, and then telling me I couldn't have a refund even though the policy was less than 2 months old. I only got the refund because I spat my dummy and threatened to post it on every forum I could think of. & start a Flux is crap facebook page.

Speak to Andy at AW Transmissions in Coventry.

I've just had the front & rear diffs stripped/reconditioned and had a complete overhaul/ratio change on my transfer box. (1:222 to 1:410)

Andy is an absolute pleasure to deal with, REALLY knows his stuff and WON'T rip you off.

Hs thinks it ****. Thats an opinion based on summit. I cant understand how you have such strong veiws on landy related service providers yet dont own a landy. Personally flux were the chapest on range rover by far, a bit off on mondeo and miles off on fiesta quotes.

how much did the Transfer box rebuild cost ya???

PM us if ya don't want ya missus logging on and seeing how much ya spent :D

It's a standard charge to all customers so don't mind saying what it cost.

The transfer box had a 100% strip down and replacement of worn parts where needed.
The ratio was changed from 1:222 to 1:410 and also had a cross drilled input gear fitted.

Total was around the £575 mark.

Hard to give an accurate figure as I part ex'd a a totally knackered R380 box (wasn't much left that was usable) & badly worn transfer box, so obviously parted with a lot less ££ than that.
