Hi all,
First post in this section so go easy on me. I am looking to buy a second hand Range Rover Sport, prob 59/60 plate but wondered if there was anything specific to look out for. What, if any, are the commen faults on the facelift model?

Thanks in advance

Dave

Go to smiths and buy a copy of Landrover owner international mag. the sales section is usually full of things to look for. from Spring issue "Stylish, but lack usable luggage space for longer trips. Not many problems reported, so just look for normal damage. EXPECT a full service history. adaptive headlights are very expensive to replace if damaged " From month to month they add new problems. I have the P38 and needs a mag for the problems alone. All are fixable. He says after 2 moths off the road.

Best thing to look for when thinking of an RR sport is to Look at a Toyota or Mitsubishi:rolleyes:
The electric hand brakes & tow hitches are fun, suspension bushes last at least 5 minutes.

Brake lines often need doing at that age so check their condition as its a body of job. Sports, D3/D4's all suffer badly apparently. My source is an ex landrover main dealer mechanic as he often got lumbered with doing them before he left.

Thank you for the replies and sorry I haven't replied sooner, that nasty thing called work gets in the way sometimes.

Having owned a freelander for a few years I was expecting a long list of things to watch out for but it seems the build quality on these seems better from the lack of commen faults. I have been told to ensure the air suspension works fully but that is from someone who has owned an earlier model. I suppose the best thing is to give it a thorough once over and drive it like I have stole it on the test drive. Hopefully looking at a few on Friday so I will keep checking back here and see if anything comes up that will frighten me off giving a wedge of cash for the car of my dreams.

as it has air suspension look for pools of air under each corner to see if there are air leaks
:D

You could always use a spray with a detergent-water mix on the air suspension bags. Basically if it's running while you get there, operate the suspension to the lowest point, foot off the brake pedal and handbrake on, doors all closed and engine running. I was lucky mine had a complete re fit of all bags, dampers and the motor. (P38).
