Anyone Running a TD5 on Veg ????

Mine runs fine on bio-d, but advised to keep it below 50% because of the fuel pump seals. Ordinary veg oil probably wouldn't be too good for the seals either.

How much a gallon is bio out of interest is there much difference price wise and do you notice any difference in performance? I have not seen anywhere near me that sells it, is that significant?:) On a similar note you can register a vote against the high price of fuel that will be collected and given to Downing St, on "Fuel Protest.com" just been and voted myself. We must do something before we are all off the road instead of off road. If you get my meaning.

Pure biodiesel from recycled chipfat is approx 90p a gallon at Purefuels in N London Pure Fuels Ltd - London's Biodiesel Company . For other outlets see Welcome to Biodiesel Filling Stations

The guy at purefuels reckoned a 50% mix with diesel was the maximum safe combination for my 99 TD5, in case it rotted the pump seals. No obvious difference in running but the cetane rating is higher so it should in theory compare with the "premium" fuels you have to pay extra for if you're not paying enough attention at the BP pump.

OOOps I meant 90p a litre. Sorry I'm a moron.

85p a litre just 'arf a mile from here, lucky sod that I am.;)

Not a TD5 granted, but my Tdi loves the bio, with a few liters of Asdas own vegy oil added too. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. In fact i'd say it's running smoother than ever tbh.

Also running a PD130 engined 2005 Fabia Vrs on 75% bio diesel, and that is defo running better than ever.

Quite believe it;) :D :D :D
Quote button misbehavin' I see? ;)

Anyway. To answer our friends original question. I really don't think you should use 100% veggy oil in ANY diesel tbh. Too damned thick, especially at this time of the year.
As for the TD5, you might get away with about a 25% mix with bio. What do land Rover say on this matter?

I know Citroen UK are running the current range of diesels without mods. on 30% bio if that helps?
No. Didn't think it would.

Would you believe a word LandRover said?

The only time I would beieve anything a car dealer said would be when they said the invoice was going to be more than they quoted.

Stealers all the way.

Except Riggaz of course ...

OIL... CHIPOIL...

I blame the media for this, they went about talking about chipfat... now we have people driving about with solid blocks of fat in their tank.
Of course, forgot they still use blocks of fat oop north. Daahn heah in London we fry chips in oil - doesn't tast half as good but apparently it's more southern and civilised. According to the Grauniad, the owner of my local chippy (sorry, awfully posh fish restaurant) runs his Rangie on his own bio-d. Presumably the sky-high prices are there to pay for the motor.

My TD5 is on about half-in-half BioD today.

Runs better .... really smooth .... and pulls great ..... the difference is immediate.

Forgive me for sounding like a thicko, but half BioD and half what?

Tempted to give it a go with my TD5 but frightened of fookin it up, so I wanna know what everyone else with a TD5 is filling up with and what sort of ratio.

I THINK he means he's fillin' up with 50% Golden Browns rip off juice, and 50% bio.
The bio I get from 'round 'ere is apparently 50% ordinary diesel anyway.....apparently, so the far eastern owner tells me.

About half a tank of pump diesel, and a straight 40 litres of home brew someone gave me.

Runs like a dream.

They do don't they? I'd swear mine's running quieter.

Lowers the emissions too apparently, which is good news at mot time.

I think these cookin' oil companies have got wind what we're up to, and have hiked the prices accordingly.
Or am i just being my usual cynical miserable mistrusting owld bars turd?
