Another problem with eBay.

When I was selling my van on ebay, listed it on Sunday, I had one bloke send me a message on Tuesday saying "I might be interested, but I can't do anything till next week".

Oddly my reply was "look forward to hearing from you next week then"

Luckily, the van was bought by a lovely gentleman who was as happy as anything, was impressed with the documentation and condition, and didn't even try to haggle.

We both left happy with the deal. (obviously I'm not that happy because it meant my beloved freelander van was gone, but at least it went to a good home)

Well ebay I hate it really the amount of people who want things for nothing had my p38 up for sale at 2k a reasonable price I thought then the offers come the best one was £1000 now then the rest in 2 months errr no.

Had another come we sort of agreed on a price over the phone he came looked was happy with it then out he comes with I'll take here is £1250. Needless to say he didn't take it away him.

So the P38 still for sale thanks to ebay time wasters.

Just as a matter of interest, I got my 'free valuation' from WeStealAnyCar.con, and it came up with:

" We have not been able to find your van using this registration, you may want to check that is is correct and try again or we can still give you an instant online valuation if you search by make and model below."

So I filled in the stuff ... And they are trying to tell me that it's a TDi, which it ain't!

I did get a 'valuation' from them for a Merc sports coupe a couple of years back. The bottom book in Glasses Guide was £5 1/2k and they offered £750.

Nuff said!

I must just be lucky, I had one guy come look at my car, it broke down on the test drive, he still wanted it, he left a deposit and went to le mans for a week, I fixed it it was gone a week later

with my defender the guy had had loads of messers on ebay, he said I could only view it before 9am as he was going out for the weekend and I couldn't take it that day as he had stuff he wanted to take off it (he had already taken it off twice for time wasters), turned up at 7:30, it was on the back of the truck before 8:30 lol

Obviously there's some good ebayers amongst us but the absolute idiots who spoil it are the ones who get our backs up about it all. Regards to people wanting it for nothing is bang on as they're doing that so they can make the money that you want to make. I'm loosing money if anything on it but I really want a different car.

what ****ess me of is the ones that bid on items and walk away if they dont like it i always put viewing welcome if they cannot be arsed to view it or get someone to view it for them its not my fault so why should i lose out on a sale because of it

had mixed outcomes with ebay over the years I`ve belonged to it,
bought some genuine bargains, sold on some good deals too.
auctions are not for the wary, but to get the best out of it you need to look at it objectively.
a) can you sell your "item" for a better all in price outside your home/local paper/local notice boards ?
b) can you buy a better deal locally by viewing any means including freeads.
c) are you prepaired to travel to collect - if - its too big to post ?

some sellers of high value items seem to forget to factor in the charges, but its only simular to other "real" auctions.
some sellers take advantage of "free" postings at 99p start, only to get caught out by the freepost clause - thus it cost them to get rid of item - great for clued up buyers though.

like all auctions - buyer beware - you wanted it - you won it.

lastly, dont be a knob, if someones clued up enough to sell an item for a decent price,
dont go along demanding a discount, as the seller is still going to pay charges,
if I had my way, I`d make it like charging vat style by adding the charges for selling at point of collection - but there you go.

over the years bought some good scooters and sub £500 cars for family use,
every one was used for a "while" then sold on - never made a loss yet - bought wisely,
just dont believe you`ll make millions by doing that, and you will end up driving/riding for nothing - if your clever enough.
