Noticed when I got home the other day, that the indicator arrows were flashing on the dashboard but the flasher unit wasn't clicking. Tried the wipers and found the intermittent wasn't working. Thought the BCU was failing but on checking the doors found that the tailgate hadn't unlocked. Seems the tailgate had only partially unlocked confusing the BCU. Fully unlocking the tailgate solved the problem.

I know the BCU doesn't directly affect the central locking ,(although it does control the indicators and wipers) but does it not network other control units on the car? Incidentally I've been thro the possible moisture theory in the BCU and found no issues.

But it's a Disco 2, everything is controlled by the BCU!
Well, I might be overstating it but the BCU does have a direct influence over the central locking and the security system. Also involved in the central locking is the IDM which is located in the back of the passenger's compartment fuse board.
If you don't have a copy of RAVE, I suggest that you download it, it's free and contains the workshop manual and electrical drawings for the D2.

Which is basically what I said!

Actually, what you said was "I know the BCU doesn't directly affect the central locking".
I was pointing out that the BCU does have direct control over the central locking.

I advised you to download RAVE and check the wiring diagrams for the Central Locking and you'll find that the BCU is at the heart of the Central Locking, as is the IDM.
