what amps is td5 alternator and would it fit where the aircon was on a 300 disco

The nominal output is about 120 Amps.
As for fitting one where you want to, I wouldn't know, and probably not without some metalwork and custom made brackets.
Don't forget the Td5 alternator also includes the vacuum pump for the brake servo and other stuff.

I can make the bracket to fit it on and the vacuum I can the fit servo for the clutch
