Hi all

I bought some side rubbing strips to stop my doors getting battered in car parks (again!). I hoped it would come with alcohol wipes to wipe the door with before fitting but it didn't. Any ideas where I can get some? My local Halfords and MotorWorld can't help or what I can use instead to prep the surface?

Thanks

Rog

PS - Sorry to all you alcoholics and councellors who thought this post was about something completely different :p

Sounds far too simple...??

Cheers

Rog

Seriously, its all I'd ever use. Fitted few rubbing strips now (not on GLs), the shampoo does a good job...washing up liquid is better cos it leaves a dryer surface but can fook yer paint over time. Just dry properly.

Anyway yer choose ta do it, I hope they stop the Asda car park Barstewards that make it there duty ta tw*t yer door every visit.

methylated spirits do a corking job, but make sure you re-wax the any bits that you wiped down, but aren't covered by the rubbing strips.

Only trouble is getting them of the crusty old p**s heads rattling around some of the dingy corners of this forum

Cheers for the advice guys. Went for the shampoo/warm water and through drying option plus some good old elbow grease. Fitted the strips just now - This is the result.

I think they look really good against the Ascot Green... and hopefully will stop ignorant old gits from damaging it again!!
