Hi, Hope someone can help, had Discos for years and had the usual problems, tonight feel like setting fire to it! Dip beam has started playing up so having read all threads decided to try and find Dim/dip relay in pass. footwell. All going well, found relay, disconnected, made no difference whatsoever. But I can live with that, will rewire lights at weekend. BUT for no reason alarm started flashing hazards, has immobilized and will not turn off with fob. (only 1 works, put new battery in spare but not recognized by car) Can anyone advise, I need car for work, can manage a few days without it. I would like to retain remote locks, happy to disconnect alarm and immobiliser as there is another immobiliser fitted which is no problem.
Does anyone else think that remote fobs are possibly made by same people as printers? They both seem difficult to recognize by the things that should work with them.
Hope some one has some inspiration for me, Cheers.

Hi, thanks for quick reply, just the flashing, alarm sounder disconnected by previous owner some time before I got it.Additional symptoms, will not lock or unlock with remote, Immobiliser has shut down everything though worked fine up until this point. It's a 96 300TDI 3door, VIN SALLJGBF7TA186436. Feel a pratt about this and sorry for not introducing myself properly! Will do that later when calmed down.

Just read my Haynes manual (not always the best source of info) and it seems there is an alarm relay in the pass. footwell. As I had 3 relays and 4 sockets wonder if I have simply put 1 back in the wrong position, I'm guessing if no power through relay to ECU then that could trigger the alarm to flash, thinking it was tampering (which of course it was).

I had trouble with my 94 300 when my fob battery was on its way out. If I locked it with the key and unlock it with the fob,it wouldn't start and the alarm(minus noise) went off. I then had to get out and lock/unlock with key in the door and then all way fine. I've played about with mine and found its got to be one or the other for some strange reason.

Hello, 'fraid my fob doesn't now have any effect though it did 15 mins earlier, before I drove home and messed about with the relays. Will have to pinch wife's car, then try and sort this out at weekend. Fortunately know a few people who deal in L/Rs, one breaks them so he may have some "new" bits I can try.

Ok was it possible thout you knocked the alarm ECU that's a green box, if... so you could have triggered the crash sensor which will switch on the hazards and unlock the door if locked, to reset is just by switching off/on/off the ignition switch.

After replacing the fobs battery the owners handbook states pressing the lock button 4 times to re-sinc the fob.

You Sir, are a genius. Just tried that, started fine, fob is still not working but the car is now usable until it is light enough for me to have a proper fiddle with it. I obviously have clattered it, though I wasn't using my favourite tool, a hammer. Can't thank you enough.

OK, now the fob works as well, just got to put it all back together, Oh and fix the b****y lights, but I shall sleep well tonight thanks to your advice. Will now go and fill in my profile and say hello to everyone. Thanks again for the help.

Thank you all for your help, replaced headlight plugs and bulbs and then there was light. If only everything was as simple, apart from me making it difficult. Now all I have to do is fix all the rust, drain and refill PAS, replace dampers, stop alpines leaking, and shortly replace 4 tyres. Used to have company car (Focus RS, that was fun) but this now daily driver. Any advice on which tyres, currently G/year GT4 235/70 X 16. They have been OK, now going to be 90% on road so advice would be appreciated. This used to be a toy but now will have to work for it's living!

I use G/year GT4 235/70 X 16 as well, on my second set and as they are 'all weather' so good in snow, it's a shame they are not made anymore, but have seen Goodyear do a tyre called Eagle so I will be looking at that, or something similar in another brand.
