Hi all,

Just started to get alarm fault flash up on the message centre. I dont always see it and cant work out what triggers it, sorry not much to go on i know.

I have plugged it into auto logic and cant see anyware in all the menus to diagnose alarm faults.

Is there anyway to test the alarm system to find what triggers the fault.

Any ideas.

B.

It could be your motion sensor or the conection to it that are failing. It is placed inside your cabin or the in the head liner.
Easy test:
1.get someone to sit inside your car
2. superlock it from outside,
3. wait until alarm led in the dash stops flashing rapidly,
4. have your testperson move around inside. wave arms ect.
5. Alarm should go off unless the sensor is faulty.

You can experiment with the distance from the sensor the waving need to trigger alarm.

Good luck

Hi all,

replaced the ultrasonic sensor in the rangie today to try and clear the alarm fault message.

It has cleared the fault but I wanted to do a little test. so I sat in the car and got a friend to super lock the car from the out side. But when I moved around in the car. in fact waving my arms in front of the sensor it didn't set the alarm off.

So has anyone got any ideas. I think from memory I should be able to test the sensor through autologic. so will have a look tomorrow.

Had a great day today. full service plus gearbox oil and filter and changed the drag link. and I got to the bottom of my steering shimmy turned out to be a tire braking up on the front.

Does anyone know were you can get michalin 4x4 tires. it appears all my local suppliers cant get them, if I cant get some I will have to fit peralli Scorpions. Ideally I would like to fit BFG all terrains but I was told they wernt speed rated? is this true?

Try these for tyres, mytyres.co.uk they have michelin. Got to be honest though i worked for ATS for 11years they are owned by michelin and i wouldnt put any on my car. Im`e going to put the Yokohamas on mine, but everyone likes diffrent michelin do wear well though.

Hi

Thanks for the link squizzel. I have fitted pirelli scorpions today all round. and what a difference. They have reduced my road noise by approx 90%. The tyre company did say that my michelins were the originals. so not bad for 150k miles. especially as the rears still had 4mm of tread on them.

It looks like michelin have ditched the 4x4 tyre and replaced it with the synchrone.

Thanks again.

hmmm, wait until the superlocking mechanisms have activated before waving your arms. So get in, superlock and sit there extremely still until you hear the superlocking activate (about 35ish secs) then wave your arms about and you then set the alarm off.

Im pretty sure this is the way it works. Its to stop people accidentally getting superlocked in the car. Basically if the system detects movement after the inital locking it will assume something or someone is inside the car and wont activate superlocking and disable the ultrasonic sensor thing.

 hi there i also have an alarm fault on my 4.0 p38 been to the garage and they cant find any fault codes? eka and immobiliser have been disabled and also the ultrasonic sensor has been disabled. but alarm seems to set itself off whenever it feels like it and when you put key in it displays alarm trigger tamper fault? it even goes off when you lock doors seperatly and alarm led isnt lit. think maybe disabling alarm altogether would be better but will it still go off not sure? any clues thanks lee.
