Hi first time user but here goes own a 1998 p38 4.6 i a vehicle tec but cannnot solve problem with no comms ecu/eas bought software kit from rugged computing who confirms software is good.
Struggling with wiring as what could be affecting comunication will read most data but tx ok but no rx cheers roy

Just to confirm you have the correct lead for the EAS....the EAS diagnostic lead is different to the rest of the vehicles systems...for some unknown reason....

Have you tried the EASunlock software available from RSW Solutions or indeed from one of the geniuses on the EAS system on here called Datatek, he can kindly supply the Connection Lead and the EASunlock software for a few sheckles....

Often times the Tx/Rx issue is from a dodgy port driver or incorrect port settings....

Datatek and The Wammer are the 'de-facto' geniuses on the EAS...maybe they can shed some light

Was talked through port connctions appeared ok rugged computing suggested there was a fault with the ecu on vehicle !!
need somone to walk me through the wiring/test proceedure to locate either wirin fault or other fault cheers

Does any of the other software you bought work. Is the EAS software actually EASunlock? If it is you could have bought the lead and got the software free from Datatek. For about £11.00 plus post. The rest of the software you bought for £69.00 is freely available for download on the net. With the OBDII plug and lead available anywhere for around £15.00. That's the bad news. Need to know if it is EASunlock first of all. There will be nothing wrong with ECU, it is odds on USB to serial problems or bad connection to OBDII socket.

PS you MUST use the EAS plug and lead provided, the one supplied for engine and gearbox will NOT work on EAS.

I had issues getting connected with my RR, I could communicate ok with GEMS but not EAS, when i took the lower panel off with the OBD connector in it the problem was obvious, the signal wire for the EAS had rotted off.

I phoned a few scrappy's. £40 for a second hand OBD connector - we have to cut the loom y'see.. **** off, you're scrapping the loom with the car anyway!

I bought a universal connector with pins off ebay (This way i know there's no corrosion issues) and just cut a couple of slots with a dremmel so i could bolt it in, with the back of the connector sittin gon the plastic for extra strength, if you have to do it you should know what I mean..

Universal OBD OBD2 16 Pin Female Connector Free Shippin | eBay

Took about a week for it to arrive, and you need the right crimpers for the terminals, can buy em for about £8 off ebay

This sort of thing.. I've seen em cheaper..

SPRUNG CRIMPING TOOL 3.9mm JAPANESE BULLET CONNECTOR TOOL NON INSULATED TERMINAL | eBay

If it is the OBD connector that's what you need! :D

Apart from RSW solutions EAS software, Faultmate, Hawkeye and Nanocom, I'm not aware of any other company that does EAS diagnostics. So what diagnostic software are you trying to run?

With the EAS software from RSW Solutions a USB to serial adaptor is needed if your laptop does not have a serial port. This is a frequent cause of non communication problems.

There are procedures and trouble shooting guides in RAVE but you won't do it with the kit you have, if that's what your thinking.
