Hi All,

I have a 1976 S3 2.25 petrol which is a running project, On the Air in take Elbow I have a pipe about 2/3 from the elbow and about 1/4" in diameter, that looks like it should have a pipe connecting to something, but I haven't been able to find anything in the manual.

I am not sure whether it should be blocked of or connected. I have a Webber 341 Carburetor

Thanks, does that mean that I need to block off as at the moment it is just taking in air, doesn't seem to effect the running though, but is obviously not going through the filter

It will need to be blocked or connected up properly, otherwise it will suck ****e in effectively making the air filter a waste of time.

Also check that if you haven't fitted the pipes that the plug for it on the carb adaptor is well blocked otherwise you'll run too lean.

It's worth fitting all this and the breather on the rocker cover. The engine runs better, it smells less and your oil will be cleaner as it actively uses the vacuum of the inlet to suck the bad vapours out of the crank case.

The T piece is a metered part don't just replace it with any old t-piece or it will suck too hard and could pull oil out of the engine on the overrun which would not be good!

Page 1c 09 and 1c 10 of the parts catalogue. What might have happened is if someone's retro fitted a brake servo they use the plug on the carb adaptor for the servo instead of buying the correct 2 port adaptor.

Thanks that is great and explains alot, it appears that somewhere along the line, the breather cap has been changed for the non breather system and the carburetor blocked off.

The last question I have is that the where the hose plugs into carb adapter, there a curved hose with a flat silver disk that is blocked, again I can't see this in the manual to identify what it is or does. Do you have any ideas?

I have attached an image to help with my poor discription.

Thanks
