I have recently fitted a new belt and that is were the problem surfaced. Bought the recommended 347 belt and it was too long. The supplier replaced the belt with a shorter one which seemed a better fit but did seem a bit slack but that has since vanished. Anyone got a part number for a guaranteed fit or do we have a couple of possibles?

I had a hell of a job getting one to fit mine. I was back and forth to the shop about 4 times, admittedly because they cocked up twice. There are 3 sizes I think so yours must be the third one! Or maybe a fourth came out ... ?

There is only ONE aircon belt for the diesel STC3397. Used to be STC2326 but it is discontinued. Make sure the adjuster/idler is in the correct hole in the bracket.

last time I did mine I had the same problem belt to long, I went down the local factors and got a 4pk830 belt and that fitted.

same as a Daewoo matiz and a nissan micra then.

Wouldn't know about that. But Land rover part number STC3397 is a belt 830mm long. The discontinued belt STC2326 was designated 4PKX853. So that is possibly what suppliers are looking up and giving out a belt that length. From memory my compressor mounting bracket has an upper and lower mounting hole for the adjuster/idler. So either belt can be fitted by re-positioning the adjuster.

Now that is a valid point. I did not check, being unaware, which hole it was in. Is it a case of upper and lower and if so which hole is the correct one. I sense a delve into Rave might be on the cards.
