No we're near you
As above guys ' I recently brought myself a 1991 j reg defender 90 from eBay at what I'd thought was a good price . Also found a near clean bulkhead as I need the 2.
Had a good few days mooching around it and chassis looks like swish cheese with every we're I poke there becomes a hole :( I was hopping to strip and weld rebuild up but I have come across a chassis from a 1992 defender 90 at £300 it's pretty solid with no rot / recent outriggers and crossmember so I would prefer to buy it and swap them over .... But my question is what would I have todo regards to chassis numbers as they are present but won't be when he sells it me . This means I would have build up my 90 to a chassis that has no numbers. How would I get a M.O.T when I have rebuilt it . Would it be classed as dodgy . I will be keeping my old chassis for proof

Could do with best advice on what to do .
Sorry for any spelling or punctuation or what ever that is . Dan

This is my problem I'm having I don't want people to think I'm ringing because I'm not I'm wanting to do a chassis swap the seller has funds to buy new chassis as I don't hence me buying used chassis . So what most people would be saying is don't tell any 1 and do the chassis swap and let that be the end of it ? .

Why is the chassis being sold without a v5.

+1 on this! Sounds very dodgy! don't do it just save the pennies and get a Galv chassis and be done with it. You will open up a serious can of worms putting another ID under your landy.

Abrand new replacement chassis is legal if you are keeping the number plate of your original vehicle.

If you use an old used chassis, it's a can of worms and you definitely don't get to keep the current plate.

Ebay and what is beeing offered for sale is not a sign of legitimacy. Never has been. There are purges every now and then, but people try and sell all sorts of VIN plates, log books and even cut out sections of chassis with VINs stamped inthem. Old beetles used to be a favourite for that one.

What you are suggesting simply can't be done legally, full stop. A land Rovers ID is with the chassis If you rebuild yours on a second hand chassis then it must use that ID. What you are proposing to do is called ringing and is a very bad thing, especially in the Land rover world where there are so many stolen, ringed and otherwise dodgy vehicles

Ain't worth losing out think I mite have to save the penny's literally ' cheers for advice time to tell the seller it would be no use to me . Thanks guys

Call me sad but I'm getting that fed up of seeing things like this listed on eBay that I'm going to start reporting each listings - they're bviously dealing in stolen Landies, if they're not them there's nothing to worry about. All of us are becoming affected by this, horrible feeling to find out that your pride and joy has been nicked!!!!

Good man....save those pennies and treat yourself to a galvanised chassis. :)
