I was preparing my 300TDI for our annual camping holiday to Whitby. Oil. water, screen wash etc I went out to the car on the drive and heard a whirring sound? The car was locked!! On closer investigation I found the ABS pump was making the noise and was very hot. I had not used the car for over two hours. Recently the ABS light had been on most of the time and braking well. On the odd occassion that the abs light went out my breaking was very hit and miss and often failed until I stamped on the pedal, very scary. I am driving to Whitby on Sunday and need to find out what the problem is. I forgot to mention that there has been a clickiing from a relay on the passenger side footwell at ignition and when electrics are put under load. Please help.

Mine does the same sometimes, certainly wakes you up coming up to a junction:eek: You could just remove the abs fuse in the fusebox under the bonnet which would give you normal brakes but without abs at all until you manage to get a more permanent fix sorted out.

Its a bit of a change swapping tween ABS and non,I know, I have vehicles in use with and without. Taking the fuse out sounds the best option and then breakers yard or e bay but dont pay the earth for an old one as it may be little better than the one you have !
