Hi guys,

I have an 97 p38 2.5 which seems to have not TC at all, or at least no light on the dash? I read the post about the different abs modules but the one I have wasn't listed.

Does any one know if this one is with or with out TC? It's an ANR 2238

That is the ABS modulator and yes TC is not fitted to all vehicles. Some early ones don't have it at all. Then rear wheel only, then after 1999 all four wheels. Would think 1997 should have rear wheel unless it's a poverty model or the modulator has been changed.

This was the one bit of info I missed when doing my research!

Do you happen to know if my and module could be upgraded with say the ecu with TC?

All is possible but is it worth the hassle. Don't know exactly what would be involved. ECU, looms, modulator a bit of a nightmare i would think. And to be honest for not a lot of gain.

If you fit ANR 2239 you'll get rear wheel TC.
Fitting the later modulator (4 wheel TC) is possible but you'll have ABS errors on the dash and IMHO, is not worth the hassle. There's a post somewhere on RR.net from a owner who did it.

There's a guy on RR.net that did the upgrade - I think he got a new modulator, ECU, and most importantly the ECU and modulator block connectors with a few inches of wire on them (from a breaker) so he could splice into the existing wiring.

I think he did a write up, with all of the pin/wiring changes required. Probably not worth the expense or hassle to do it, unless you can get the parts cheap!

Thanks mcapinha, thanks everyone!

Fantastic info! All going well with the rest of the car this would be the cherry on my cake! If I go ahead and do it I will be sure to post the results etc!

You will spend a lot of time, effort and money and be very disappointed. But carry on if you must.

I know what you mean and would tend to agree. That said if I get the car to where I want it this would be something I would consider as I like to make a car my own.

Comes from my VW days when I would at least do an engine swap, think 16v scirocco and mk1 golfs :)
