Don't think there is any common problem, does the light come on during the lamp test when you first switch on the ignition ? If not it is probably the bulb.

Yip that is the prob and the only thing the car failed on.It may be the bulb but more important there may be a prob with the ABS.Not sure what to do but will take the easiest option and change the bulb which may be a bugger of a job.

let us know how you get on Al, might a few tips meself:) .......

take it out on yer local golf course . . . . .and slam the brakes. . . .should feel the thud thud thud that means your ABS is indeed working [pays to do this quite a few times] as it will free up the high speed solenoids that have probably never been used for years. . . . .then when your happy with that go down the fix light route :) :) :)

Hi

Had a play this avo, first was on the road and the front wheels locked up and skidded. The second was on the gravel at the car park and again she locked up.In conclusion it looks like the sensor for the ABS,this is not the end of the world as the other option of the light bulb looks like a bugger to change.

Further investigation.

Car was at the local garage today and the ABS is working, the guy took her out for a run and you can feal it kicking in.Took the dash off and the led light is fine. The next stage is to find a garage with a fault finder and take it from there.

Has anyone experienced the same issues and got any pointers ?.

i've posted a thread today with similar problem....

Had a chat with a local car spark and he was telling me about cars with ABS probs being sold with blown lights. He is convinced that there was a prob and the wire cut to mask it.This has been one bugger of a prob but she is going in to get the whole ABS system inspected, don't know how long this will take or more important how much.

Stay tunned,Alan.

Hi

Got her throught the test now with a little help form my friend, the ABS sensors are fine and in position but will have to purcahse a new control unit. Not able to go for a new one,but now know a guy in the Land Rover garage. He has helped me out with the last couple of probs.Owning a Freelander has been described as a "joy and tribulation".so true. Now i am looking for at least a couple of trouble free motoring.
