Abs and back door problems

Hi my name is Tony i have just purchased a 2lt x reg gs feelander . I have a few problems the first one is that my abs light stays illuminated untill i pull off, is this correct ? the other problem is the rear tail gait wont always close first time, it takes a couple of attempts for the lock to catch and just one other i have to use the air con to clear the condensation as it gets so bad some times could any one one give me a possible cause for these problems.

the abs light is normal, my tailgate doesn't always catch first time, usually because of the crap in the boot, and finally, condensation could be caused by water in the rear underfloor cubby box, have you checked that ? also check carpets all round for traces of water, then find where it's coming in. come back if it's rear cubby box as there are a few things you can do to cure it.

Thank you very much for getting back to me their is water in the well at the back door. Could you tell me where it could be possibly be getting in and what i could do about it .

Some drill a hole to let it out and don't bother. It's likely to be coming in due to the crap tail gate door seal. Watering can and watch to see where the leak is.

or just put some gold fish in the cubby hole. . . . . . .ppps dont get the doors wet

with the three door, you can try taking the seal off and then refitting it. It goes back slightly differently cos it's been disturbed, and then should seal okay.

slightly different arrangement on the 5 door, but worth trying.

good luck with this, it's one of the more common faults with the freelander.

It's normal to use the air-con to clear condensation, isn't it?

Unless it's excessive, I would just carry on using the air-con to clear it.

On demister position the air-con switches in automatically anyway to do just this.

Use the air con to help clear the screen. But if your Freelanders damp inside then you will still suffer in future. There's an air vent which may be blocked, behind the plastic in the boot. Also the air filter on the blower may be blocked. Make sure you travel with the air vents set to take in outside air if you can. Or open a window when driving to feed in new air. I bought a small humidifier for £40 which I put in my Freelander when the windows start misting up again. It can collect a mug of water easily. No leaks in my Freelander. Just the damp getting in. Wet shoes leaving water on the mat's me thinks.
