Hiccuppin and fartin time again.
No power revs to 2000 no more.
45 top speed.
Bags o smoke coming out the back.

No 1/ Loose connection on one of the preheaters.
No2/ Fitted a new inline filter, parts no brain supplied unsuitable one,had to get it changed.
Small split in hose from heater to inj pump.

Sort it all out put it back together, revs up to 5000 no problem(not all the time though generally 3000/3500) turbo kicks in and creates g's at 2000/2200 very smooth.
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

put some doozil in it fer a bit .... its probbly clogged up a bit ...
Did exactly that Yesterday.
£13.00 b'stard fkin quid for ten fkin b'stard litres, kinell i,d forgotten what fuel prices were like, tell yer what i was carefull not to spill any.:D :D :D

Veggielandee...are you using any kind of mods for cooking oil...you mentioned preheaters? I'm running 50/50 cooking oil with no mods, went up to 70% and started to get hesitation and smoke! I guess what I'm asking is, is it worth using a heated fuel filter or other stuff?

WELL THANKYOU VERY FUKKINN MUCH YOO HAVE MADE MY DAY.
No other fukkerrs believed me.

Ist of all, what is your Landee,Secondly, what make injection pump? .50/50 oil with what? deisel?

The hesitation is the gloopy ****e probably clogging up your deisel filter,or injectors,or injection pump.or lift pump,or narrowing the pipes bit like a heart attack.
Veggie got a different flash point.
The smoke is unburnt oil fookin up yer rings in time.
I have 2 preheaters, one 2 inches before the deisel filter, the other one 2 inches before an additional inline filter which is 4 inches before the injection pump.
I have to change the filters every other month.
But saving 200 odd quid per month outways the 20 quid or so every other month.
Oil in the engine should be changed every 5000 or sooner if you wish.:) :)

I've got a 97 disco, no idea what the injection pump is, just got fed up with diesel price, so I just started upping the svo / diesel ratio, she runs great up to 50% svo with diesel. But then got silly and put 75% svo in, started jerking, hesitation, wouldn't go above 55mph, quite a bit of black smoke. I ran the tank down, filled up with pure diesel and she started running fine, then put 30 litres of svo when there was room in the tank. Seemed to take 50 miles for the fuel to mix properly, now runs a smooth and quiet as anything. Smells like a BBQ though:D

Keep the mix at what she is happy with untill the cold weather kicks in.
I know of people running on vege/deisel/petrol in colder times.
In favour of 30%/65%/5%.
Preheaters can only help.
I had em put on because of a failure on a previous vehicle.
Once bitten an all that.

What preheaters are you using?Obviously a coolant divert heat exchange only works once engines hot.......
..I had enuf experience of diesel waxing in cold weather before the advent of winter derv, this can only be more so with all that glycerine in....cant it?

anyway,Id still like to know where, when ,how and how much on the preheaters :D :D :D

Have you changed the fuel filter - veg oil cleans all the **** outta your system into the filter and blocks it.

It should run absolutely fine on 75% without heaters.

Electric preheaters hot in a minute, turn off when not needed.

Welcome to Vow2

Have a look and contact the people they are very helpfull.
My suggestion is 2 smaller preheaters.

those glowplug style preheaters cause a carbon buildup within the fluid because they heat far to aggressivly - a coolant heat exchanger combined with a coolant preheater is the way to go

but only if you live somewhere that's very very cold

svo with a dash of petrol is fine

Well we are gonna have to beg to differ Sean me tall friend, not so m8ey not so.
These turn on and off when needed, coolant types take much too long to heat up.
By the time the fookez heat up the cold oil's fuktup yer ring piece.

Petrol does not lubricate at all.
Be carefull with that ****e.
Petrol ignites deisel dont.

Not suckered just talking from experience are you some kind of expert then??????????????????????? PAL!!!!;)

Vegee, you seem to have been brainwashed by the VOW heater peeps, they make no difference to the running of a landy on veg oil - they run fine on a very high mix of veg - so actually without knowing it you are actually agreeing with Sean! Problem is you seem a bit selective about heeding what people advise on here, so we'll all be going round in circles if we suggest this!
