a bit poor on the hydraulics though compared to mf,we used to have a 7000 used to suck straw ash in to the rad and you had to keep stopping to clear it

Any tractor would suck straw ash up, used to block air filters within hours, wait for a wet day to plough or disc.

All hyd systems seam weak compared to modern tractors but my dad used to do all the cultivation on a 360acre farm with a Ford 6600 and a IH 575. Still want a old 3 pot ford, would be happy with a 4610 or push the boat out and get a 6410 4pot

no it was the only one that did it like it did ,4600 didnt either ,its control of hydraulics when ploughing etc that wasnt as good as mf

rite folks, been out chipping some trees i dropped with me tractor and 3point pto chipper, as yer kno the fergy pto is the small u'n, iv been running it with an adaptor collar so i can use standard spline ( bigger shaft )machinary. the collars shattered to bits tonight, any one else had any experience of this ?

this is the thing FERGUSON TE20 PTO SHAFT SLEEVE INCREASER NEW | eBay not off ebay but the same product

Dont know much about the PTO im afraid, but I like the crane, and using it to fix landys! We've got a TED20 in the shed being restored at the moment and a crane and forklift attachment are on the list for using around the drive and shed. I dont think it'll be quite man enough to move the ransoms plough weve got stuck in a hedge though (the fordson is dead so wont be moving it)

Sounds like you got a worn shaft on ya ferg. A lot of stress to run a chipper so if ya adapter is a bit sloppy it will be putting a lot of stress on it. Get a new one and see how loose it is.

rite, iv phoned the parts man this morning, looks like i need a bigger pto shaft, the complete part, the adaptors are hard tool steel and as yer say stu, a lot of grunt thru the chipper wil shear it, needd to go direct with no chance of chatter then :) will order the stuff later ... hmmmm more work :)
