Hi all
Bought a genuine Land Rover A bar STC53174(the soft type)and have been searching on the fitting of it and whether it needs a fitting kit or not.
All it has with it is the two bolts on the bottom with the two tubes which pass through the bumper/ number plate plinth.
Does anyone have any info on this ?

Many thanks

You need to drill through the bumper skin with a hole large enough to allow the tube to go into, then, with a long bit, drill an M8, ( or whatever the bolt size is ), through the metal bumper support behind it.

Push the bolt through the A bar, slip over the tubes, push the whole lot onto the bumper and reach up from behind the bumper to put your nuts on.

There should be 2 stabilizing straps fixed to the rear top of the bar which fix into threaded inserts in place of the plastic screws that hold the grille in place.

Del.

Thanks for the swift reply,I don't have the two top straps/supports do you think they would be available from Land Rover still or does anyone out there have any spares perhaps.
Failing that do you think it would be ok without them as it looks pretty sturdy .
Thanks

Hi Ade,

I have the a bar you mentioned with two 8" wipacs on. It was salvaged from an accident damaged (rear shunt) disco p reg. It was only fitted via the two bolts you mentioned on the original car.

I have fitted it on mine, with the two bolts after taking the plastic /bumper/number plate moulding off, and its fine, doesn't wobble or vibrate. Just wouldn't want to hit anything with it - think its more for looks than function.

Hope that helps, good luck.
