I was just checking some bits behind my dash with a multi meter when i accidentally shorted something out for a split second, now the headlights on full beam (push forward) work but the flash on the stalk (pull backwards) no longer works (along with the extra spotlights and extra reversing lights that i assume the previous owner wired them into this circuit) I've checked all the fuses in the fusebox in front of the gearstick and their all fine, I'm not very good with electrics so any help would be greatly appreciated

George.

Have a look at the contacts in the switch they may be damaged, any extra lights that need to switch on and off with the dip switch in a Defender need to run through a relay. Trace the extra wires they may run through their own add on fuse box.

I have just found the fuse for that wasn't quite pushed in properly now they flash as they should, which is strange because the interior light and radio that also run off that fuse worked fine, extra lights still don't work so there must be a fuse somewhere gone, only question now is where he put it haha. Thank you very much for your help

The light's did not work because the poor connection would not deliver enough energy to light the headlamps, the the radio and inside lamp require little power and so worked.
Working on someone else's non standard wire up is a pain, some of the things I have seen make me whince.:rolleyes::eek::confused:
