I know it's been covered a hundred times but I could really do with some help.

Just bought new suspension for my Landy +2 inch terrier a all terrain shocks front and rear and heavy duty +2 bearmarch springs front and back. All got delivered today. Now I'm worried after reading post that parts will fail and my handling will go to pot. I'm fitting a winch and tubular bumper to the front. And it's a defender 90 cow. Should I change for standard height springs and shocks or leave it?
Thanks Arran.

There's a very good thread on here somewhere about fitting a two inch lift. Should come up on a search.

Basically unless you wanna put your hand in your pocket again I'd stick with standard height. Lifting it means changing more than just the springs and shocks

I have looked at other treads just wanted to hear from people who had done similar and what it drove like and if anything w
Broke.

I can still exchange them for standard height ones which is what I think I might do. As HD springs are slightly higher should I keep the +2 inch shocks and just change the springs? Do I need heavy duty springs on the back?

I've got +2 HD springs on it at the moment that were fitted when I bought it and the ride and general drive is just god awful, as soon as I can ill be sticking standard all round on it. It wallows in corners, is very very rough on roads that aren't smooth and I can't even fit under McDonald's drive through

Same here pal - i need to know where the best and cheapest place to get standard springs for a 2000 Td5

Think I'm gunna change them then if I have heavy duty Springs all round will my handling still be affected or is it just a combination of the height and the springs.

Just took off my 2" lift springs and put it back to std height with Britpart HD springs. I have only been out for a quick run in it with the new springs and shocks but it seemed a nicer drive. I have been told that the body roll can be bad with spring lifts and handling can be poor. So unless you need to lift it don't.

But my main reason for lowering it was to fit in the garage and also save me having to fall out of it rather than step out.

I have got a +2" lift and mine drives fine, its a damn site better than my Disco with the same lift, it comes down to the quality of the parts, I have got fitted Extreme4x4 springs and DeCarbon shocks, I dont suffer excess body roll or see-sawing and I find it very comfy...

As for affecting other stuff, a +2" shock/spring lift is fine on its own, you will find your props will be at their limit with articulation and the standard rear arms will wear bushes a bit quicker but that is about it, Yes your castor changes but not enough to be a worry. There are many threads on here that say you must change everything otherwise your going to die in some over exagerated way but its all bollox! You will be fine with just springs and shocks but if you intend to put it through its paces then you will want cranked arms and a wide angle rear prop to go with it. Dont forget you will need to extend your brake lines with any lift and ideally your bumpstops as well....
