the car drive great atm and pulls ok up hill under load np moterway fine top seed ok.
theres no smoke and it drives well.

in stock mode ..
4000 rev is where it reaches it's max horsepower rating
4800 is governed rev limit
5250 is max 'over run' ..

take it too far ..
and connecting rod 'stretch' will cause the piston crowns to kiss the valves ..
'kaboom' .. goodbye engine

it's probably not going over 4k 'cause it's simply reached it's max power
and can't deliver anymore ..

If the car is not running perfectly to start with then the Synergy will not help and may even blow out your injectors.

Get it diagnosed and go through a the usual things - filters, hoses, breathers etc first.

Wow, you are well on the way to 'kaboom' as hd3 says right enough, trying to exceed 4000 rpm.

I legally get her up to over 100mph on the autobahn on rare occasions, and I've NEVER used revs that that. 3750 rpm is about as hard as I would push it.

I normally run at 3000 with the cruise control on - wife calls it 'auto-pilot'. :D

I suggest that what is happening is you're reaching the max flow through your fuel filter. When was it changed last? Did you get a cheapy off eBay? Check the air filter too. I only use Mann or preferably Mahle filters they DO make a difference.

As angeloc says - fitting a Synergy will not fix any faults - it might well show them ip even more.

The M47 engine in the Rovers and MGs takes a bit of a hammering on times, some of the owners have tweaked them to 170 ish BHP, it's a nice strong engine :)

If it wont rev cleanley and you've checked everything else check the MAF is OK, I've heard they can effect the engine's ability to rev out if they are in poor nick.

Is the PCV clean? crankcase compression can effect some engine's ability to rev (not heard of it on the M47 though)

For comparison, the wife's Freelander easily revs to 4,500 before changing up when it's in sport mode, a bit pointless as the thing stops pulling quite so hard at 4,000, but it will rev out happily. It's doing sod all else right mind ;) :)

it runs great and will only rev to 4000 rpm and filters changed 5000 miles ago mil light does not come on any more and has not for a long time code reader said lp fuel pump was at fault witch i changed for a oem one and as for vent changed that too
i have not reved my car that hi in mounths say 7 or 8 back then the mil light would come on but now nothing i have changed filters and crank breather since then so maby that was the prob
