Sorry if this has been asked before but can't find the answer when I have searched

I have a 4.0 v8 my exhaust system is from both manifolds down two cats then 1 middle to to 1 back box

no I was thinking to remove the centre box with a straight through to get more of a rumble noise from the car now I have seen a few vids with 4.6 v8 done this but my thoughts would be the 4.6 have twin back boxs so I would have thought it would reduce the noise a bit

just wondering if mine would sound to load with it just having the single back box or would I better of getting a sports back box of ebay

thanks

I understand the middle box provides the neccesary back pressure needed.
Pretty sure twin back boxes were introduced from '99 on all models.
Depends on what you want to spend but my Janspeed cat-back system sounds just right, you need to weld an extra hanger on to fit twin back boxes though as yours is single.

I was just thinking of welding in a straight pipe insted of the middle box but wasnt sure if it was going to be to noisey with just having the one back box

I had a straight pipe instead of a center box, and its sounded lovely, albeit mine has twin rear boxes. Do it!

It may not help you with a V8 but my twin pipe diesel had a hole just after the central box so that nothing was going through the back boxes. I didn't even notice.
