300tdi rebuild in the states or second hand uk

yep i know thread title makes no sense what so ever but my question will probably make even less

So lets say you live in the USA and you blow up a 300 tdi. Do you have it rebuilt in the states or buy a used one in the uk and have it shipped over.

just trying to get my head round roughly which would be more viable cost wise and talking a little in wriggles to try and avoid making myself look/sound like a clot.

It would have thought that any descent garage could order parts in and rebuild the engine or even better, you could do it yourself and be sure of the right parts.

Pity you're not in Canada as I could perhaps help you out as my colleague travels every month to Canada for about 10 days at a time.
