I very much doubt it will be an injection pump fault, more likely your filter, sedimenter or lift pump mesh (if fitted) is blocked. Or it is coincidence that it happened when it happened and your lift pump has failed.

If you are in the habit of tipping UVO into the tank without adequately filtering it I would carry at least one spare fuel filter. They are a doddle to change and can be done in about 30 seconds.

To fit these: Unscrew old one, make sure o-rings come with it. Wet o-rings of new filter with some of the spilled diesel (DO NOT TIP DIESEL FROM OLD FILTER INTO NEW ONE - but if you have some handy you can fill the filter first, but make sure it is CLEAN, if it goes down the middle, it will go straight to the pump without any filtering) screw on new one. Turn on engine DON’T TOUCH ACCELERATOR, it will use the diesel in the pump to run it for long enough to fill the filter and push the air out via the pump. If you rev it, it uses more diesel and will probably stall needing turned over on the starter to prime it and your injection lines get air in them too.

At about £1.50 a filter you probably spent more on petrol than a new filter itself - it doesn't matter how long ago you changed it, you could run it for 3 miles and block it if you have unfiltered fuel going in - it may look clean but fatty deposits clog it up really well, like smothering the filter element in mastic would probably be less effective!

Also how much veg are you using % wise and how cold is it where you are now?
