My 300tdi auto gearbox will only select reverse, figured it may be easier to put in another box than overhaul the existing box and change the seals, has anyone else had this problem & tried to tackle it?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Tony.

Hi all thanks for your replays! I am in Kent near to Sittingbourne.

I did a bit of research before I posted & I came to the conclusion it could be the clutch A pack from the info I could find.

Does anyone know what this involves to fix & do I need to drop the box out to do it? I myself am not a mechanic but dont mind getting my hands dirty however my dad was (now retired) and between us we i think could we could fix it if we can find the right information, we have access to tools and a ramp to lift the disco up, so no problem there.

Any help or info would be much appreciated!!

good search find :),once box is off its just a matter of removing bell housing and pump housing

Hi, I've managed to find a replacement box for £175 not too far away which would probably cost me £200 all in to go & collect (and half a day of my time) or I can get a ZF master repair kit from Ashcroft Transmissions for £195 which also is going to take a day or more to take apart, and put back together, in both cases I will have to drop the box out.

To me the replacement box seems like the better option!

I have just replaced the Auto box in my 300 TDI got everything back together now the thing wont start, we seem to have intermittent fuel issues, one minute its getting fuel the next its not, but when it is we have fuel at the injectors, the engine turns, but it wont start?? it seem like it wants to but something is stopping it?

We did damage a wire, that we discovered was popping the fuse on the fuel pump we have now fixed this and the fuse is no longer blowing, and all electricals seem fine apart rom the intermittent supply of fuel?

any help or advice would be much appreciated!
