300 TDI - Check Turbo?

My 300TDI has been sat for a couple of months due to a clutch issue but when driving it was a bit sluggish. I've never driven a Landrover before but other turbo diesels you can tell when the turbo is coming in. Is there a way to test mine on a Disco?

Yes you should feel it kick in, not like a scooby but you know its there.

Take the inlet on the back of the turbo off and check the shaft for movement??

Landrover are slow unless new so might be ok?!?!

TDI engines are really old technology and cant be compared to any modern car turbo diesel, by modern i mean anything in the last 15 years or so!
Even worse when they are stone cold.

might be able to hear it whine under load

If not, you can tee in a gauge to check boost pressure
